Kerbside Rubbish & Recycling & Other Labour Weekend News

Kerbside rubbish and recycling and other Labour weekend news

Our Kerbside rubbish and recycling collections will be a day later than usual following the Labour Day public holiday.

It’s Week 1 of our biweekly for recycling collection schedule, which means if there is a “1” next to the day of the week of your usual Kerbside collection, eg “Tue 1”, on the sticker near the top of your wheelie bin, put out your recycling.

For a reminder of what can be recycled in the Coromandel, and to see the full Kerbside schedule for your area, go to www.tcdc.govt.nz/kerbside

You can drop off blue Council rubbish bags and recycling for free at all seven of our Refuse Transfer Stations. They are open their usual hours on the Saturday and Sunday of the Labour Day long weekend. On Labour Day Monday, Sunday hours apply. See www.tcdc.govt.nz/rts for locations and hours.

What goes in the wheelie bin

Your recycling wheelie bin is for paper, cardboard, tins and hard plastics (numbers 1-7).

No rubbish or glass in the wheelie bin please!

Put your recyclable glass bottles and jars in your Council crate, but remove the lids and put them in your wheelie bin.

Some of our communities and town centres have liquor bans in public places over long weekends and summer holidays.

Check which liquor bans apply where on our website: www.tcdc.govt.nz/liquorbans

Dogs on beaches

We love our four-legged friends but we also like to avoid human-dog collisions. For this reason we don't allow dogs on many of our beaches on holiday weekends between 9am - 6pm, when our beaches can be busy with people.

To protect some native bird species that like to use our beaches as nesting site, for example the dotterel, we ban dogs from some sections of some of our beaches from Labour Weekend to 1 March.

Check all our dog rules on our website: www.tcdc.govt.nz/dogrules

Library and office hours

All our district libraries are open on Saturday from 9am - noon but closed on Labour Day Monday. Our Council offices are also closed on Labour Day but if you have an urgent service request please phone our 24-hour Customer Services line on 07 868 0200.
