"Name release - death on State Highway 4"

Police are now able to release the name of the man who died after being struck by a rockfall on State Highway 4 yesterday around 5:40pm.

He was 70-year-old Paul Lenard Batchelor of Taupo.

A blessing of the site was undertaken this morning with local iwi and Police present.

The death has been referred to the Coroner.

Police extend their sympathies to Mr Batchelor's family at this difficult time.
