New Skybus North Harbour Airport Service Ready to Go

New Skybus North Harbour Airport Service Ready to Go on July 1, 2018

$1 Single Trip Cost (Online Purchase) for the First Two Weeks to Celebrate

SkyBus, operators of New Zealand and Australia’s most awarded airport express service, is excited to now confirm an early launch date for the new direct service between Auckland Airport and the North Harbour Auckland region.

From July 1, 2018, the SkyBus North Harbour Airport Express will start from Civic Crescent, Albany, and travel along the Northern Busway, including stops at Smales Farm and Akoranga, before arriving Auckland Airport.

In honour of this proud moment, SkyBus North Harbour Airport Express is offering all passengers the ability to purchase $1 Single Trip tickets ($2 Return) for all online purchases (skybus.co.nz) up until 15th July.

Pre-sales will commence on 15th June, and tickets purchased via this offer can be used for any travel up until the 31st July, 2018.

When $1 offer travel period concludes, tickets will cost $25 (one-way), providing a substantial saving of at least $70 per Single Trip as compared to taxi/Uber (source taxifarefinder.com). Westfield Albany will also house the e-kiosk machines to enable easy ticket purchases.

The new airport express service will be serviced by a dedicated Airport fleet of buses inclusive of luggage racks, free Wifi and multi lingual on-board announcements. In early 2019, a new fleet of 6 new buses – an investment of just over $3 million by SkyBus – will further complement the service.

“We are extremely delighted with this announcement and the support of our key stakeholders who helped make this happen ahead of schedule on 1st July,” said Michael Sewards, Co-CEO, and Director of SkyBus.

“We have worked hard with Auckland Airport, Auckland Transport, ATEED, Air New Zealand, Auckland University of Technology, and Albany Ward Councillor John Watson. We know we’ll be providing a world-class, low-cost, convenient and comfortable service along this route where there is a strong local demand.”

“The start of the service in just a few weeks’ time highlights our commitment to playing a part in the continued growth of Auckland’s transport connectivity and airport visitor strategy,” added Mr. Sewards.

The SkyBus North Harbour Airport Express will also provide a viable transport alternative for a good number of passengers including airport precinct and airline staff traveling to and from the airport.

Albany Ward Councillor John Watson praised SkyBus for delivering the service ahead of schedule.

“This is a very exciting development for the North Shore – quick, direct and half-hourly access to the airport. It’s something our residents have been wanting for years,” said Cr Watson.

“SkyBus has done a great job in getting this airport service up and running so quickly. Now everyone north of the bridge has a real option.”

Richard Barker, GM Retail & Commercial for Auckland International Airport added: “This new service will provide a great option for travellers and staff who work in the Airport precinct and who come in from the North Shore.”
Sonia Simpson, Associate Director Facilities Support, Auckland University of Technology
also praised SkyBus: “For AUT, the service will support our plans to reduce fleet ownership of carbon emission vehicles and reduce single vehicle travel between our campus and the airport.”

SkyBus currently runs a highly popular Auckland express service from the CBD to Auckland Airport, 24 hours, seven days a week, and has seen significant passenger growth since its inception in 2015. The company has received consistent Excellent Ratings on Trip Advisor and is expected to complete 1 million passenger trips this year.

The new airport express service will include all of the special SkyBus passenger perks such as free Wi-Fi, kerbside drop access, ample luggage storage space, online ticket discounts, reduced seniors fare and our popular ‘Kids Travel Free’ policy, whilst also having AT HOP capability.
