Media release
Hamilton Civic Award nominations open
6 August 2018
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Do you know someone in Hamilton who deserves one of the city’s highest honors?
Nominations open on Monday 6 August for the 2018 Hamilton Civic Awards. These recognise the invaluable work of the many dedicated people who every day make extraordinary contributions to our city.

These Awards are bestowed annually, and can range from longstanding involvement in arts and culture, to dedication to people, education, sport, enterprise and the environment.

Hamilton Mayor Andrew King is encouraging anyone who knows of a person who has made an outstanding contribution to our city to put their name forward.

“One of the great things about the Civic Awards is giving credit to the unsung heroes of our city. There’s excellent work being done by many dedicated people within our community in a range of ways and my hope is this year’s Civic Awards nominations reflect the variety of ways people make a real difference to our community.”

The 2017 Civic Award recipients included a long serving volunteer at Hamilton Zoo, an English as a second language teacher, the founder of the New Zealand Republic of Korea Friendship Society, and a behind-the-scenes volunteer at the Riverlea Theatre.

Nominations close on 31 August, with. nomination forms available online, or from the Council's Customer Services team on the Ground Floor of the Municipal Building in Garden Place. The awards will be presented at a civic reception on 14 December.
