Electric vehicle trial the next step to sustainability

1 November 2018

Electric vehicle trial the next step on road to greater sustainability

Two electric cars may be the first step toward a smaller carbon foot – or tyre – print.

Capital & Coast DHB has become the first organisation in Wellington to take up Contact Energy’s electric vehicle fleet trial for businesses.

“We currently have fleet vehicles – ranging from an electric bicycle, to small hatchbacks, and a delivery truck – at our sites across Wellington, Porirua and Kapiti,” said Corporate Services general manager Thomas Davis.

“They are used by a range of teams including community nursing, community health, and other outreach services. We’re now looking to see if electric cars can meet our transport needs, and if they would make a suitable addition to – or replacement for – our current fleet.”

The trial is the latest development in the DHB’s ongoing work to save energy, and be more sustainable and environmentally-conscious.
