Homicide inquiry launched in relation to
death of three-month-old
Attribute to Detective Senior Sergeant Kevan Verry:
Police have launched a homicide inquiry following the death of a three-month-old baby girl in Porirua on 13 November 2018.
Following the completion of a post-mortem and scene examination, information has been gathered that indicates the baby died of non-accidental injuries.
A 22-year-old Porirua man has been arrested by Police and will appear in the Porirua District Court on 20 November 2018, facing one charge of male assaults female and assault on a child.
The investigation is still ongoing and Police are working closely with the family of the deceased to ascertain further facts.
This is a tragedy impacting on a
large family group.
Police are committed to supporting
the family and providing answers to them.
As the
matter is now before the Court, Police are unable to provide
further comment at this stage.
