Appeal for information following fatal crash in Waiuku

Statement attributable to Detective Katherine McCormick:

Police investigating a fatal crash in Waiuku want to speak to the occupants of a vehicle who we believe may be able to assist our ongoing inquiries.

The two-car crash happened shortly before 2:30pm on Waiuku Road on Friday 9 November.

Seventeen-year-old Ruby-Jean Steele, the driver of the one of the vehicles, died at the scene.

Police want to speak to the occupants of a dark coloured SUV, seen travelling west towards Waiuku.

The SUV was travelling in front of a white Toyota Starlet that was involved in the crash.

We hope the occupants of this SUV can help us with our investigation.

If you can help, please contact Detective Katherine McCormick at Papakura Police on (09) 295 0200.
