City Vision selects a fresh face for Waitematā and Gulf

City Vision has selected Waitematā Local Board Chair Pippa Coom as its candidate to contest the Waitematā and Gulf Ward at the 2019 Auckland Council elections.

“I wish to serve constructively, positively and effectively on the governing body to deliver on a progressive vision for Auckland” Ms Coom said. “It has been a privilege to represent the central suburbs and city centre of Auckland on a City Vision-led local board. We have a proud reputation as a brave, adventurous, and action-focused local board.”

“The diversity and unique qualities of the Waitematā and Gulf ward excites me tremendously. I am committed to serving on the governing body and working to fulfil the aspirations of all Aucklanders. I look forward to representing the Ward as Councillor”

City Vision chair Robert Gallagher welcomed Pippa’s selection: “Pippa’s energy and leadership of the Waitematā Local Board make her a natural candidate for the governing body seat of Waitematā and Gulf. She is dynamic, a consensus builder and has extensive governance experience. The communities of Auckland's central suburbs, city centre and Gulf islands will be strongly represented by Pippa at the Council table.”

“I intend to campaign alongside City Vision’s Waitematā Local Board candidates who have also been selected. They are an impressive, talented group who are focused on making Waitematā accessible, vibrant and sustainable for all residents.” says Ms Coom

City Vision is a coalition between Labour, The Greens, and community independents that has stood up for social justice, for outstanding public transport, for environmental protection, for ownership of public assets, and for local communities to have a real say.
