Heartland Bank Donates $5,000 To Support Older People Affected By Tasman Floods

Heartland Bank has generously donated $5,000 to Age Concern New Zealand to support older people in the Tasman region who have been impacted by recent flooding.

The funds will be used to provide both practical support and long-term assistance to those recovering from the disaster and will be managed at a local level by Age Concern Nelson Tasman. They work across Tasman communities to ensure that older people receive the services, advocacy, and connection they need, now and in the months ahead.

“We are delighted to receive this gift from Heartland Bank and feel privileged that they chose us as their partner to help support this community,” said Karen Billings-Jensen, Chief Executive of Age Concern New Zealand. “Older people are often disproportionately affected by emergencies like floods. For many, they may not have the capacity or ability to recover from the impacts of a natural disaster. The funds have been transferred to Age Concern Nelson Tasman to help provide immediate and practical assistance.”

“Our thoughts are with everyone affected by the floods in the Tasman region,” said Leanne Lazarus, CEO of Heartland Bank. “We’re proud to support Age Concern New Zealand in their vital work to support New Zealand’s older adults.”
