Emergency services are at the scene of a serious crash involving two vehicles on State Highway 30 near Atiamuri.

Police were called to the scene at around 5am, and early indications are that one person has sustained critical injuries and two others have received moderate to minor injuries.

The road is partially blocked and motorists are advised to follow diversions and expect delays.

We expect the road to be closed for some time.

The Serious Crash Unit has been called and an investigation is underway to determine the cause of the crash.
