SH1 Mangamuka Gorge To Close Tonight
State Highway 1 Mangamuka Gorge will be closed from 7pm tonight, Saturday 11 April, due to potential impacts from Tropical Cyclone Vaianu.
Inspection crews will be on site from first light Sunday morning to assess the conditions before determining whether the gorge can safely reopen.
A detour is available via State Highway 10 (SH10), but our advice remains to delay travel if possible as other parts of the network are expected to be disrupted by the cyclone.
