Crews Attempt To Clear Tracks of Train Wreckage
Tranz Rail crews are working through the night to clear the wreckage of a goods train, truck-and-trailer collision near Pukekohe, south Auckland.
The train struck the truck, which was carrying potatoes, on a level crossing this afternoon.
No one was hurt in the collision which saw 20 carriages filled with coal, destined for Glenbrook Steelmill, hurtle from the tracks after ploughing into the trailer unit attached to the truck.
Tranz Rail is reported
as stating the lights and bells were working at the time of
the
accident.
