Prize Draw for Early Dog Registration

Press Release

North Shore City Council

Prize draw for early registration

North Shore City dog owners who register their pets by July 31 will receive a $15 discount and be in the draw to win a mystery holiday for two to Australia.

Every dog over the age of three months must be registered every year and late registration could result in a $200 fine.

North Shore City Council environmental protection team leader, Ian Parker, says it makes good sense to register your dog for a number of reasons.

"It not only makes your pet legal and provides instant identification, but it entitles you to benefits like free obedience classes, and free professional advice on all dog matters," he says.

Full details are contained in the council's leaflet "Your responsibilities as a dog owner", which is available from area offices, or by phoning North Shore City Actionline on 486 8600.

In processing registrations, the council is legally required to ask owners to state their age. This is necessary to distinguish between residents who share the same name and initials, says Mr Parker.
