GALLERY GOES NAUTICAL
Americas' Cup excitement extends even to Auckland Art Gallery later this year, with an exhibition with a nautical flavour assembled especially for the Cup season.
"Lure of the Sea" will run from mid-December to February, when it's anticipated that interest in sailing and sailing history will be at a peak. The exhibition features works from the 17th Century through to today and is drawn from the Gallery's collection. These include early prints of battleships, Claude Lorrain's atmospheric port scenes and Chris Booth's monumental sculpture of the skeleton of a ship.
PONSONBY CAB MOVES
Ponsonby Citizens Advice Bureau
has now moved to new premises in the Bayfield Hall, the old
Bayfield School on the corner of Wharf and Jervois Roads.
The bureau was a former tenant of the Ponsonby Community
Centre, which was burnt down recently. The relocation is a
temporary one, and the plan is for the centre to go back
when its former premises are rebuilt. The Citizens Advice
Bureau is staffed by volunteers and is open from 9am - 4pm
Monday to
Friday.
