Auckland City Revaluation Complete

Auckland City Council - City Scene

Valuation notices are being prepared for all properties (approximately 155,000) in Auckland City ready for posting on or about November 15.

The citywide revaluation will establish new Annual Values (also called Annual Rental Values), the system used by Auckland City Council to calculate rates.

Also included for the first time in the Council's revaluation notice will be the Land and Capital Values formerly assessed by Valuation New Zealand.

The new values will remain in place for the next three years.

Manager of Auckland City Valuation Services, Gilbert van Schaijik, says Valuation New Zealand has ceased to exist and local authorities are now responsible for preparing District Valuation Rolls containing Land, Capital and - where they apply - Annual Values.

Mr van Schaijik says most of the work to assess values was completed by the end of September. The values will now be audited by the Valuer General prior to their release on 15 November.

Property owners will then have until December 17 to lodge an objection, if they do not agree with their revised values.

'City Scene' invites questions relating to valuations from readers. The questions and their answers will be published over the next four weeks. Please write to : John May, PR manager, Auckland City Private Bag 92516, Wellesley St.
