DIVISIVE TACTICS SADDEN MANFED
"It is disappointing that a New Zealand couple should have decided to start their own campaign to encourage New Zealanders to buy locally made products without first giving the Buy New Zealand Made campaign a fair go" says Simon Carlaw Director of the Buy New Zealand Made Campaign.
"Clearly those
concerned feel passionately about New Zealand and its
future. I would encourage them to join the campaign and use
their undoubted
commitment to best advantage. If they
are concerned about its effectiveness then joining Buy New
Zealand Made is the best to have their say over the
campaign's future direction. Setting up an alternative is
more likely to achieve confusion in the minds of New
Zealanders and possibly undermine the new initiatives
already in train.
"We are fortunate in having a Government with a clear enterprise policy which includes a commitment to the Buy New Zealand campaign. We need to built on that excellent base without the divisiveness inherent in two competing organisations with the same aims."
