Sale Of Whitcoulls Does Not Affect Flying Pig

News Release flying – 1
May 26, 2000

Statement from Adam Keller, chief executive officer, FlyingPig.co.nz

The proposed sale of Whitcoulls will have no effect on the business of online retailer FlyingPig.co.nz.

FlyingPig.co.nz holds the licence to fulfill special orders (Internet sales) for Whitcoulls and the contract remains in force regardless of Whitcoulls’ ownership.

Beyond commercial considerations, there is no direct relationship between FlyingPig.co.nz and Whitcoulls.

Blue Star Group has a stake in the recently merged business of FlyingPig.co.nz and Australia’s leading on-line retailer, TheSpot.com.au. Blue Star also owns Blue Star Retailing, the owner of Whitcoulls.

The merged Australian and New Zealand on-line retailing business of FlyingPig.co.nz and TheSpot.com.au is forging ahead and has recently announced the addition of a health and beauty category to its business.

The merged online retail operation now includes books, videos, stationery, software, toys and health and beauty categories.

Our plans for business growth in New Zealand are forging ahead and we are extremely pleased with the feedback from consumers following the news of the recent merger.

Statement ends

Issued by 141 Palace Plus for FlyingPig.co.nz
