FARM BIKES SUPPORT THE BLIND AT NEW ZEALAND'S NATIONAL AGRICULTURAL FIELDAYS

Suzuki New Zealand is helping the Royal New Zealand Foundation for the Blind (RNZFB) raise awareness and support during the National Agricultural Fieldays at Mystery Creek this week.

Suzuki offered some space on their Farm bike site when they heard the Foundation wanted to reach the farming community with information about their services for blind and sight-impaired New Zealanders.

"We were happy to help the Foundation out," says Suzuki's Fieldays Co-ordinator Rochelle Broughton. "Suzuki is already supporting charity with the auction of a mudbug, but when we heard the Foundation needed a space, it was no trouble at all to find them some room on our site."

Suzuki is also contributing towards the Foundation's $9000 Farm Package raffle by supplying a Suzuki two wheel farm bike and a Suzuki child's quad bike as the main raffle prizes.

Tim Kay, RNZFB National Manager Special Events says "We are grateful for the support that Suzuki New Zealand is giving us because the Fieldays are a wonderful opportunity to reach what is normally such a widely dispersed community.

"Our attendance at an event like this always intrigues people as they do not associate the Foundation for the Blind with farming and especially not farm bikes.

"However, a few of our members live rurally and some of those are actively working on farms - so there is a link."

"The National Agricultural Field days gives the Foundation an opportunity to raise awareness in the farming community about our services and raise a bit of support as well."

Ms Broughton says that Suzuki is expecting a busy four days at the Fieldays and they are aiming to make their site as interesting and dynamic as possible. "We have top motorcross riders, our mudbug auction and the Suzuki cheerleaders all on site and we're hoping the crowds we draw will also help the Foundation."
