Farmers’ Mutual Appoints New Regional Manager

Farmers’ Mutual Appoints New Regional Manager, Financial Planner

Farmers’ Mutual Group, New Zealand’s leading rural financial services provider, has appointed Don Armstrong to the newly created position of Regional Manager, Financial Planning for its Central Region.

“We have experienced very strong growth in demand from our clients for financial planning over the past 12 months and, as a consequence, needed an expanded team of experienced specialist staff in the field”, says Graeme Thomas, Farmers’ Mutual Group’s General Manager, Distribution.

Mr Armstrong, who was formerly Farmers’ Mutual Group Area Manager, New Plymouth, will service the Central Region, which covers the southern half of the North Island, from New Plymouth through to Gisborne, and takes in Nelson and Marlborough in the South Island.

Based in the New Plymouth office, he will be responsible for the delivery of financial planning services in the Central Region through Farmers’ Mutual’s network of Area Offices.

“Don combines wide experience of the financial services sector with an understanding of the needs of rural communities. His family had a mixed farm at Tarata.”

Mr Armstrong joined Farmers’ Mutual in 1996. Prior to this he was Training Manager for AMP in Auckland.

Farmers’ Mutual believes that the reason for the growth in demand it is experiencing for its financial planning service is because it understands the needs of rural communities and that its staff can provide unbiased advice.

“Our financial planning staff are salaried. Neither they or Farmers’ Mutual receive commission or have any arrangement with any product or investment supplier that compromises their independence”, says Graeme Thomas.
