Email Impact Partners With Freenet On Opt-In Email Marketing

Email Impact, the New Zealand leader in opt-in email marketing, today announced it will provide an opt-in email service to freenet, New Zealand's first free ISP, in what will be a pioneering partnership between an an opt-in email marketer and an ISP in this country.

According to Email Impact's Managing Director, Tom Skotidas, it is an indication that the NZ Internet market is maturing. "In giving its customers the chance to be selective in receiving marketing information via the Internet, freenet is also giving direct marketers the ability to deliver highly targeted messages to potential customers. It is the kind of relationship the Internet is made for," says Skotidas. "Everyone is a winner. Consumers are only receiving the information they want and companies are able to direct their marketing specifically to those potential customers."

freenet (http://www.freenet.co.nz) will actively promote Opt-In NZ (http://www.optinnz.com) to its 50,000 customers and give them the opportunity to "opt-in" and receive commercial email messages on topics of interest to them.

"The concept of opt-in email marketing is extremely powerful," said Julio Coelho, General Manager of freenet. "We want our customers to be in the driving seat and take control of the commercial email they receive. Opt-In NZ is a great solution that is family-friendly, saves a lot of time spent on surfing, and is entirely optional, as are all our free services."

When Opt-In NZ users register for a list, they check off "interest boxes" next to a series of categories, such as Clothing, Travel, Entertainment, Music, Business Services, etc., that correspond to their wants and needs. Members can select as many interests as they wish and return to modify their profile or even opt-out completely at any time.

"Freenet's web site attracts some of New Zealand's most qualified and responsive Internet buyers. It's customers spend $100,000 annually on products and are more than twice as likely as the average Internet user to buy products online," says Skotidas. "By partnering with freenet, we are able to offer direct marketers a large, highly-qualified, and highly-responsive group of online consumers who are eager to receive their offers."

Email Impact will provide list management and email delivery services, and offer the lists for rent through its marketer web site. The company maintains the highest privacy standards and never reveals its members' personal information to any of the direct marketers who rent the lists. All marketing messages conform strictly to the interests consumers have chosen, and certain content is completely disallowed, e.g. adult sexual material and get-rich-quick schemes.
