Sun Ups Training Ante With New Education Centre

AUCKLAND - September 29, 2000

Sun Microsystems New Zealand is making a significant investment in customer education with the opening of a new training centre in Auckland and the appointment of a New Zealand training manager.

The new centre will offer a wide range of courses for Sun's market-leading UNIX hardware and software solutions, as well as having a strong focus on Internet and e-commerce technologies with courses covering Java, Forte development tools and iPlanet E-Commerce Solutions.

Rachel Baigent has been appointed to the position of New Zealand Training Manager, and will be responsible for the new training centre and for Sun's existing training facility in Wellington.

Based in Auckland, Ms Baigent will work closely with SolNet Ltd, Sun's Independent Sales Organisation, and with Sun Enterprise Services and Sun's educational consulting division to offer comprehensive training solutions.

"Part of the focus of my role will be to communicate to Sun customers that we are a lot more than a training centre and that we offer a range of solutions including instructor courses, on-site training, customised courses, and new Web learning courses," Ms Baigent said.

"Working with Sun's Education Consulting Services division, I will also be involved in offering customers staff skills analysis - not just in using Sun products but covering the full suite of their IT requirements - to ensure that personnel take the best course of action to develop appropriate skills."
