Arrivals And Departures – Shell New Zealand

This is to advise that as from 23 July, Shell New Zealand Corporate Communications Manager (Oceania), Antonius Papaspiropoulos, will take up a new appointment as Government and Public Affairs Manager with Shell Development Australia.

This Perth based role reports to the newly appointed Chairman of Shell Australia, Dr Alan Parsley, and is responsible for all of Shell’s exploration and production activity in Australia.

Antonius will be succeeded in his role by Simon King who is currently the Manager of Communications and Government Relations with the Tourism Industry Association of New Zealand.

Simon has a strong combination of skills and experiences learnt as a private and press secretary to a number of parliamentarians including former Prime Minister, Rt Hon Jenny Shipley. Previous communications experience spans appointments at Television New Zealand, the ACC, and Public Relations consultancy, Hill and Knowlton.

As Corporate Communications Manager, Simon will manage all of Shell’s day to day communications activities including product retailing through Shell’s network of 361 service stations, to its major exploration and production interests in the Taranaki which alone provide for 90 per cent of New Zealand’s gas.

A major area of focus will fall on the Company’s extensive sponsorship portfolio which includes the World Wide Fund for Nature, Earthwatch, and Barnardos, as well as Shell New Zealand’s commitments to sustainable development and renewable technologies – particularly solar energy.
