SHELL NEW ZEALAND APPOINTS LLOYD TAYLOR NEW MANAGING DIRECTOR OF EXPLORATION AND PRODUCTION

Shell New Zealand Chairman Ed Johnson has announced the appointment of Lloyd Taylor to succeed Thijs Koeling as Managing Director of Exploration and Production, effective from 1st September 2001.

In this role, Mr Taylor will become a member of the Board of Shell New Zealand Holding Company Limited (SNZH), the Chairman of Shell (Petroleum Mining) Company Limited (SPM) and Managing Director of Shell Todd Oil Services Limited (STOS).

Lloyd Taylor has been Chief Executive Officer of Fletcher Challenge Energy Limited (FCE) since March 2001 and Chief Operating Officer from 1998. Before that Mr Taylor’s career highlights included stints as General Manager Offshore Australia for Santos Limited, Chief Geologist with Sarawak Shell and Sabah Shell Petroleum Company, and Geophysicist with Woodside Petroleum Development.

Shell acquired the upstream assets of Fletcher Challenge Energy in March this year, and Lloyd Taylor has been responsible for leading the integration of FCE into Shell since then.

Lloyd Taylor, 50, holds a Doctorate in Geology and Geophysics from the University of Sydney and has 24 years upstream Exploration and Production experience, working in a range of countries including Australia, Argentina, Egypt, Holland, the United Kingdom, Malaysia and Indonesia. He is married with two daughters.
