Tourism Auckland Congratulates Winners Of The National Tourism Awards

Auckland tourism operators scooped 11 awards in last night's New Zealand Tourism Awards, announced in Rotorua. Sky City Limited won the prestigious Supreme Award for tourism excellence.

The Auckland winners included:
* Sheraton Auckland Hotel & Towers, Major Hotels and Resort Hotels category and a Distinction Award winner
* New Zealand Motorcycle Rentals, Transportation Services category
* Sky City Limited, Visitor Attractions category and overall major category winner, Visitor Activities and Attractions
* Kiwi Discovery at Auckland International Airport, Retail and Restaurants category
* The Ellerslie Flower Show, Conventions/Incentives/Events Category
* Kiwi Experience, Tourism Innovator Award for human resource development and training
* Auckland International Airport Ltd, Distinction Award
* Richard Wilson (General Manager THL Experiences), PATA Young Tourism Professional Award

Tourism Auckland Chief Executive Graeme Osborne said today the crop of awards demonstrated the high level of quality in the tourism industry in the Auckland region.

"Our congratulations go to all the winners and we look forward to an even stronger showing for our region at next year's awards," he said.
