Bank Project CEO Confirmed
The Chairman of the New Zealand Post Bank Project, the Rt Hon Jim Bolger ONZ, confirmed today the appointment of Sam Knowles as Chief Executive of Kiwibank.
Mr Knowles has been leading the bank development team since it was established to develop a business case in mid-2000.
Mr Bolger said he was delighted to confirm the appointment of Mr Knowles. He said Mr Knowles had a wealth of banking experience, established leadership skills and a quiet confident manner which was ideally suited to the task of creating and launching a new bank in New Zealand.
“I know the Kiwibank staff are extremely supportive of Sam and have greeted the confirmation of his appointment with enthusiasm. I believe the public and customers of Kiwibank will be able to share that confidence that we have an experienced, reliable and extremely capable individual to lead the team.”
Mr Knowles has been a senior manager for trading banks in New Zealand and Australia, specialising in strategic planning, retail services, marketing and business development. He is a Member of the New Zealand Institute of Directors and has degrees from Waikato and Canterbury Universities.
