Value of Building Work Put in Place: September 2001 quarter
Non-Residential Construction Increases
The
value of all building work put in place was $1,798.2
million in the September 2001 quarter, according to
Statistics New Zealand. After adjusting for seasonal
changes, this was a 4.6 per cent increase from the June
2001 quarter. This number reflects the increase in work put
in place for both residential and non-residential
buildings.
The trend series for all building work put in place has been increasing since the March 2001 quarter, after decreasing for the last three quarters of 2000.
The value of work put in place for non-residential buildings was $839.0 million in the September 2001 quarter. After adjusting for seasonal variations, this is 7.7 per cent higher than in the June 2001 quarter.
The value of work put in place for residential buildings was $959.2 million in the September 2001 quarter. After adjusting for seasonal changes, this is a 2.0 per cent increase from the June 2001 quarter.
