Telecom Focuses On Increasing Online Business

Telecom is increasing its online business with the launch today of a new service enabling customers to receive, view and pay their Telecom bill online.

Developed for both residential and home business customers, Bill Online is intended to increase repeat visits to www.telecom.co.nz by up to 30 percent by mid-2002, Telecom General Manager Customer Services, Kelly Moore said.

With Bill Online, customers can also analyse and sort calls according to cost, duration, place or number, as well as download that information onto a spreadsheet, which can then be printed.

The service is the first use of esolutions’ new electronic bill presentation and payment service – FlexiBill. FlexiBill allows consumers to access their bill either from the biller’s website or, in the future, from their online bank.

Bill Online is part of the personalised and secure section of the Telecom website Your Telecom which was launched in September. Your Telecom enables customers to view an up-to-date record of their unbilled calls, Talking Points balance, free remaining Mobile minutes, and three latest payments.

“The new services are an extension of Telecom’s redeveloped website as we move towards providing customers with more personalised information online,” Ms Moore said.

“Telecom’s strategy is to provide customers with greater choice and convenience. The high level of Internet access in New Zealand makes online services an important channel of communication.”

“A survey of Your Telecom customers indicated strong support for the ability to see up-to-date account information, quickly and conveniently. More than 90 percent of those surveyed said they would check the service at least once a month with more than 50 percent indicating they would check it at least weekly.

“We are confident that the ability to receive and pay Telecom bills online will have the same positive response,” she said.

This functionality is intended to help customers manage their Telecom account and sort information according to their needs. This will be particularly useful for share households, for example flats, or home businesses that want to reconcile calls on behalf of different clients.

eslolutions’ FlexiBill was developed using Avolent software and Microsoft.NET technology which allows seamless integration with banking portals. The Bill Online service sits within the esolutions Operational Framework. This framework brings together hosting, networking and messaging systems and also supports the esolutions’ Safecom, InfoXchange and Dedicated Hosting packages.
