Axis Student Award Winners Chosen

MEDIA RELEASE

AXIS STUDENT AWARD WINNERS CHOSEN

At a ceremony at GeneratorBates next Wednesday (30 January 2002), the winners of the inaugural AXIS Student Award will be announced.

This new CAANZ initiative was announced at the 21st AXIS Creative Awards last May and the winners will be heading off to the prestigious "One Show" in New York later this year, with the chance to participate in the Young Creative Professional Competition as well as work placement for 2 months at GeneratorBates.

CAANZ Vice President and AXIS Chairman, Andrew Stone said that GeneratorBates took up the sponsorship of the new award in order to provide encouragement and support for the next generation of AXIS winning creatives.

To be eligible, students had to be enrolled in a tertiary institution studying advertising, design or film in 2001, and were required to present examples of their portfolio work as well as advertisements for a biscuit brand.

The awards were judged by Creative Directors Oliver Maisey (GeneratorBates), Mike O'Sullivan (Colenso BBDO) and John Plimmer (Saatchi & Saatchi Wellington).

Mr Stone said that CAANZ was pleased with the response to the competition, and the judges were delighted with the standard of work presented.

"The award also gives students another opportunity to impress agency creative directors and to profile themselves in the industry," said Stone, "we have had a great response from CAANZ members who are coming along to see the work on Wednesday when we announce the winners".
