ERA To Hear Kinleith Injunction Case
June 10, 2002
The Employment Relations Authority has decided that it will hear an application by the EPMU to stop job losses at the Kinleith pulp and paper mill.
The authority has rejected an application by the union to transfer a hearing to the Employment Court.
The union says that the mill owner, Carter Holt Harvey, has failed to meet its obligations to bargain in good faith with its workforce. The union is seeking an injunction to stop a plan to cut nearly 400 jobs at the Tokoroa mill.
The authority has set down a hearing for June 24 in Auckland.
Meanwhile, a mediation hearing will take place in Rotorua tomorrow (Tuesday).
The union will consider its position at the end of that hearing.
