Cheap Fuel at BP today

Cheap Fuel at BP today

BP is encouraging motorists to take advantage of its cheap fuel today before higher prices caused by international oil price hikes kick in.

All day today BP is taking 10 cents a litre off the price of petrol and diesel at its company-owned service stations as a pre-Christmas reward for motorists.

The drop drops petrol prices in the main centres to 92.9 cents for Unleaded 91, 97.9 cents for Unleaded Premium and 54.9 cents for diesel.

BP Managing Director Peter Griffiths said it is a competitive move unrelated to the escalating international oil price.

Crude oil prices shot to a two month high this week after fears of war between Iraq and the US increased. In addition to this, strikes by Venezuelan oil workers continue to push up world oil prices.

International oil prices have risen the equivalent of five cents a litre in the past fortnight.

Mr Griffiths said “as a result, BP will reluctantly lift its pump and wholesale fuel prices at midnight tonight (Thursday, 19 December) by three cents a litre for petrol and four cents a litre for diesel”.

Prices at BP’s company-controlled service stations will rise to $1.05.9 for Unleaded 91, $1.10.9 for Premium Unleaded and 68.9 cents for diesel.

Places already on discount pricing will see higher price rises.
