New Lotteries Commission Chief Executive

New Lotteries Commission Chief Executive

The New Zealand Lotteries Commission today announced the appointment of Mr Trevor Hall, a former Chief Executive Officer of Totally Wellington, as their new Chief Executive.

Kerry Marshall, the New Zealand Lotteries Commission Chairman, said he was delighted with the choice. "Mr Hall was appointed after an extensive job search identified his range of skills as ideal to meet the challenges of promoting Lotto and the Commission's other products. Through the Lottery Grants Board, Lotto distributes millions of dollars a year to arts, sport and community projects," he said.

Since mid 2001, Mr Hall has been Executive Director of Blaze International, a technology company based in Perth and Melbourne which aimed sales and marketing primarily at Japan's telecommunications sector and the animation industry.

Before this, from 1995 to 2000, Mr Hall headed the government-private sector funded agency, Totally Wellington (Partnership Wellington Trust Inc). This involved implementing a strategic plan to redefine the city's service economy.

During this period, Totally Wellington achieved the status of the highest profile tourism organisation in the country, increasing revenue from $1 million to $6.5 million. Wellington hotels went from the worst to the best performing and most profitable in the country.

>From March 1993 to December 1994, Mr Hall was the New Zealand Tourism Board's Regional Manager, Central Europe, based in Frankfurt. Previous appointments included management positions with the Mount Cook Group.

Mr Hall said he was delighted to return to New Zealand to work with the Lotto suite of products which are such an integral part of New Zealand society. Interesting challenges were involved and he had great confidence in the future of Lotto.

Mr Hall will take up the new post on 10 February, after returning from Perth.
