Media Pitches in for the CAANZ Media Awards

Media Pitches in for the CAANZ Media Awards

Tuesday, 28 January 2003: In place of the traditional “Media Sales Person of the Year” at the Annual CAANZ Media Awards, this year an inaugural award will be given for “Best Media Sales Proposal of the Year”.

Lynne Clifton, CAANZ Executive Director explains; “there was some concern that the award for Best Sales Rep was little more than a popularity contest, and there was some evidence of ‘block voting’. “

“Our Media Awards are very highly sought after in all other categories, and so we have been talking for some time about how to make the Sales Rep award more meaningful and more inspirational.”

“This year we are asking for media sales representatives to enter an award, describing an initiative that they pitched to an agency for a specific client.”

Clifton credits TVNZ Head of Sales Lauren James with coming up with the genesis of the idea. She stresses that the emphasis will be on understanding of the client’s marketing objectives. “We aren’t necessarily looking for originality, we are looking for sound strategic and tactical thinking and an understanding of client, agency and media dynamics. We see this as an award demonstrating professionalism and partnership.”

Entry forms are available from www.caanz.co.nz
