NZFSA urges caution over food tampering

NZFSA urges caution

The New Zealand Food Safety Authority today reminded people of the need to remain aware of the possibility that food or beverages may have been tampered with.

“We don’t believe people need to take any special precautions but we would urge them to remain vigilant to the possibility that food may have been tampered with,” said Sandra Daly, NZFSA acting Executive Director.

“If you suspect a product may have been interfered with, we would strongly suggest that you contact the Police immediately.”

“ We would also urge food producers and retailers to ensure that their products cannot be interfered with.”

The NZFSA has further information on its website, www.nzfsa.govt.nz or can be contacted during working hours on 0800 NZFSA1.
