NZBIG Welcomes Exotic Bee Exercise

NZBIG Welcomes Exotic Bee Exercise

New Zealand Bee Industry Group Chair Milton Jackson is delighted to be a part of an Exotic Honey Bee Pest and Disease Simulation Exercise.

AgriQuality and MAF with the support of the Blenheim Beekeepers are holding an exotic honey bee disease and pest training exercise in Blenheim from Tuesday 8th to Thursday the 10th of April.

"North island beekeepers are still recovering from the effects of the varroa bee mite, and the potential of an incursion across Cook Strait hangs over the heads of South Island beekeepers, said Mr Jackson.

"This exercise is an excellent educational opportunity for all involved and a great relationship building exercise for Beekeepers, MAF and AgriQuality."

"MAF is to be congratulated for taking a proactive approach to exotic disease and pest incursions."
