Lion Foundation supports Foundation for the Blind

The Royal New Zealand Foundation for the Blind (RNZFB) recently received a generous boost to its services from a grant given to it by the Lion Foundation.

The Lion Foundation gave a total of $240,000 to the RNZFB to spend on various services for blind and sight-impaired New Zealanders.

Mark Forshaw, General Manager and Trustee of the Lion Foundation says, “In our view there are few more worthy causes than the Foundation for the Blind and we are very pleased to be able to substantially increase our support for the Foundation this year.”

The RNZFB has over 12,000 members nationwide and relies heavily on public donations and corporate sponsorships to fund its services.

Jeanette Manson, RNZFB Divisional Manager Fundraising says, “The RNZFB truly appreciates the generosity of the Lion Foundation’s grant”.

“The money will go towards Guide Dog Services, rehabilitation services, the Auckland Adaptive Technology Unit, Peer Support programmes for blind and sight-impaired children and teenagers, and specialised software that helps our members use computers more effectively.”

“This grant will help us to assist blind and sight-impaired New Zealanders keep their independence and overcome the challenges of sight loss in their lives.”
