Pohokura Gas Authorisation – conference details

Media Release

Issued 30 June 2002-03/180

Pohokura Gas Authorisation – conference details

The Commerce Commission will hold a conference on Tuesday 1 – Thursday 3 July on its draft determination relating to the application by Preussag Energie (now OMV New Zealand Limited), Shell Exploration and Todd Petroleum Mining for authorisation to enter into arrangements to jointly market and sell gas produced from the Pohokura field.

The conference will be held on the ground floor at 44-52 The Terrace, Wellington. The conference will be chaired by Paula Rebstock.

The Commission released its draft determination in May with submissions on the draft closing on Monday 9 June. The conference is a process where parties can present their submissions orally, and the Commission can ask questions based on those submissions.

In its draft determination, the Commission’s preliminary view is that it would authorise the joint marketing and selling of gas produced from the Pohokura field subject to certain conditions.

A copy of the conference programme is attached.

Media are asked to confirm their attendance with Jackie Maitland, Communications Manager, jackie.maitland@comcom.govt.nz

The draft determination and submissions received are published on the Commission’s website, http://www.comcom.govt.nz/adjudication/pressu_gas.cfm.
