Telecom Recruits Greg Muir To Lead Retail Refresh

Telecom has signed on the Warehouse’s Greg Muir for a short-term contract to spearhead the revitalisation of its retail presence in New Zealand, Telecom Chief Executive Theresa Gattung said today.

“It’s fantastic to have someone of Greg’s calibre and depth of retail experience to spearhead this significant shift in focus for Telecom,” Ms Gattung said.

“Retail is a critical component of our business strategy. Greg’s appointment is about shifting our retail focus from just selling products to showcasing the latest in integrated mobile, fixed line and Internet services.

“International trends among leading communications companies, coupled with our first-hand experience with the Telecom Shed, has convinced us it’s time to revitalise Telecom’s retail focus,” Ms Gattung said.

Mobile General Manager Kevin Kenrick said retail outlets can showcase the full range of communication services that otherwise would be quite intangible for customers – for example, demonstrating the huge difference in experience between dial-up Internet and broadband JetStream connections.

“Telecom retail outlets will continue to sell the latest in 027 mobile phones but just as importantly, will provide customers with the hands-on opportunity to learn how to access the extensive range of Xtra Services on both PCs and 027 mobile phones,” Mr Kenrick said.

Greg Muir starts with Telecom in early August.
