Auckland Accounting Firms To Amalgamate

Auckland, 15 July 2003 - Accounting firms Seal BKR and Cox Arcus are to amalgamate their operations, effective August 1st 2003.

The move comes as both firms seek to complement their existing knowledge base and consolidate their presence in the Auckland market.

Alistair Ward, currently senior partner at Seal BKR, said that the amalgamation is the result of many months of planning.

"As business people, we are continually looking at ways to ensure we remain at the top of our profession," said Mr Ward. "The combination of the two practices ensures we will jointly continue to add value to clients' businesses by giving them access to a greater depth and breadth of expertise."

The new firm will adopt the name of Seal BKR's Australian counterpart, BKR Walker Wayland. This move is a reflection of the new firm's commitment as a member of the BKR Walker Wayland National Association and the opportunities the association presents for the firm and its clients to do trans-Tasman business.

According to Mr Stephen Roger, Chairman, BKR Walker Wayland National Association and Regional Chairman Asia Pacific, BKR International, the values and approach to personal service shared by each partner in the newly created firm typifies the qualities of BKR Walker Wayland National Association members.

"We are glad to build on our association over the past 15 years with Seal BKR and take this opportunity to expand the BKR Walker Wayland independent network into New Zealand," said Mr Roger. Other associate firms in New Zealand include Munro Benge BKR in Wellington and Cleland Hancox in Hamilton.

BKR Walker Wayland will also be a member of BKR International, an association of independent accounting and business advisers with over 120 member firms in more than 350 cities worldwide.

BKR Walker Wayland will operate from newly refurbished premises on Fort Street in Auckland's CBD from 1 August 2003.
