Malaysians to visit N.Z.

Malaysia is letting New Zealanders know it is a premier tourist destination with a week-long sales mission headed by the country’s Deputy Minister of Culture, Arts and Tourism, YB Dato’ Fu Ah Kiow.

Dato’ Fu will start his sales mission in Auckland on Thursday 21st with a major presentation and dinner at the Heritage Hotel for representatives of the NZ travel industry.

Presentations will also be held in Wellington (25th August) and Christchurch (26th August).

Dato’ Fu will be accompanied by a cultural troupe of Malaysian dancers who will perform at the official functions as well as Westfield Shopping Centres at Henderson and Pakuranga.

Mr Zakaria Nani, Tourism Malaysia’s Director for Australia and New Zealand, said that during recent difficult times, Malaysia had retained its reputation as a premier travel destination of choice as it enjoys political stability.

To date, Malaysia has been virtually free of any incidents of violence and terrorism which proves, despite some recent negative travel advisories, that it is a very safe country for both Malaysians and visitors.

He said Malaysia is a vast country that has so many things to offer tourists, be it the diversified culture of the different races, delectable cuisine or breathtaking sights and wonders.

”Many people often question where Malaysia is and they push it aside when they look at the atlas and see only a tiny peninsular in between Thailand and Singapore, and the northern island of Borneo.”

”But it is not until they arrive and experience Malaysia that they truly realise what the country has to offer and what facets make it so unique and intriguing.”

Mr Nani said Malaysians have always been known for their warmth, humble personality and hospitable outlook. This, coupled with the united and harmonious environment, makes a memorable stay for any tourist.
