Annual Enterprise Results Released

Annual Enterprise Results Released

Provisional results from the 2001/02 Annual Enterprise Survey (AES) were released today by Statistics New Zealand. The survey is New Zealand's most comprehensive source of financial statistics and provides annual financial performance and financial position information about industry groups operating within New Zealand. The industries covered in the survey contribute approximately 90 percent of New Zealand's gross domestic product. Industries excluded are residential property operators, religious organisations and private households employing staff.

Tables for 40 industry groups are available on the Statistics New Zealand website (www.stats.govt.nz). Industry data at a more disaggregated level is available on request. The tables provide information about financial items such as income, expenditure (including salaries and wages), profit, purchases of fixed assets and equity, as well as economic ratios such as return on assets and profit margin on sales.

Statistics New Zealand would like to thank the respondents for their cooperation in participating in this survey. It also acknowledges the cooperation of the Inland Revenue Department in providing administrative data that enabled us to lower the size of the postal sample and thereby reduce compliance costs on the business community.
