Commission grants clearance to Schneider Electric

Commission grants clearance to Schneider Electric to acquire Gerard Industries

The Commerce Commission has cleared an application from Schneider Electric SA to acquire the core low voltage electrical distribution products and associated accessories business of the Gerard Industries Group of companies.

In New Zealand, the Gerard Group operates under the Clipsal brand. The specific companies being acquired are Two Plastics Pty Limited, Three Products Pty Limited and Lockwood Pty Limited.

Acting Chair Paula Rebstock said the Commission was satisfied that the proposed acquisition would not have, nor would be likely to have, the effect of substantially lessening competition in the national markets for the supply of wiring devices and cabling systems, and for the supply of low voltage panel boards for residential buildings due to the strong competition provided by existing competitors in the markets.

A public version of the decision will be shortly available on the Commission’s website under Adjudication.
