New Supplier of the Year Award

Tyco Services Announces New Supplier of the Year Award

Auckland (Dec 2003) - Leading commercial and consumer services group Tyco Services New Zealand has launched a new key supplier reward program in recognition of the important role suppliers play in ensuring the smooth operation of our business.

Tyco New Zealand Procurement Manager Mike Moran said suppliers are fundamental to the ongoing success of our company. We feel it is fitting to recognise the support our suppliers provide to us and this reward program recognises that.

The program recognises outstanding contributions to improving the relationship between customer and supplier. "Customers reward performance, and by introducing this program for our suppliers we believe we have created an incentive to focus our suppliers on helping us enhance our business," Mr. Moran said.

The aim of the Supplier of the Year Award is to involve Tyco business units in supplier management by asking them to survey the quality of support. The surveys were sent to Key Staff who were asked to give their feedback. This provided a mechanism where Key Account Managers and Suppliers identify where improvements can be made and reward excellence.

"It has created a virtuous circle of improvement," Mr. Moran said. "We get a supplier on board and work hard at providing access to the feedback given and break down the different types of queries. This information is invaluable to the supplier and we now have a strong guideline to measure performance," said Mr. Moran.

Tyco judges the award on three main factors:

1. Quarterly performance review sent to Key Staff which is tallied at the end of the year

2. Quality of contact with Key Account Managers

3. Quality and speed of disputes conflict and complaints resolved

And the inaugural award for 2003 has gone to Boise Office Solutions and the company's Key Account Manager Bev Murray.
