Surfs Up For Hyundai

Surfs Up For Hyundai

Hyundai Automotive New Zealand (HANZ) today announced it will be the official car supplier of Surfing New Zealand.

Surfing New Zealand Chief Executive Officer Greg Townsend said the organisation is grateful for the support from HANZ, which has provided the organisation with one of its Santa Fe vehicles to use for a 12 month period.

"This vehicle is ideal for surfers. The spacious interior accommodates our surfboards but we can also travel in comfort this season," said Townsend.

"Surf beaches in New Zealand are located in some pretty rugged terrain. We have to drive on and off road and the Santa Fe handles it perfectly. The vehicle also looks really good - it's sleek and sporty."

The Santa Fe features a full time "intelligent" 4WD system that combines with rear axle Limited Slip Differential for added traction. MacPherson strut front suspension and Double wishbone rear suspension provide superior handling.

HANZ general manager Philip Eustace said the sponsorship of Surfing New Zealand, which is the national governing body for surfing in New Zealand, is an ideal fit with the Hyundai brand.

"We are pleased to be supporting Surfing New Zealand as they are a competitive bunch with a sense of adventure which is what Hyundai is all about. The Santa Fe will work well for them as it is a versatile vehicle, which is also strong and reliable". The advanced safety features of the Santa Fe include dual airbags (and side airbags in the 2.7 V6 GLS), ABS with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution, and an optimised all-steel body that earned the coveted five star safety ratings for frontal and side impact (NHTSA NCAP 2004).

Watch for the Surfing New Zealand Santa Fe on New Zealand surf beaches throughout 2004.

HANZ recently announced its major sponsorship of TV2's Sportscafe show and also supports New Zealand golden girl Barbara Kendall and Black Cap Nathan Astle.
