New appointments to BT New Zealand Equities Team

Westpac NZ CEO Ann Sherry has announced two new appointments to BT’s NZ Equities Management team.

Slade Robertson has been appointed as Head of NZ Equities Research and Anthony Halls has been appointed to the position of NZ Equities Analyst. Their appointments follow Mark Smith’s appointment last month as the new CEO of BT Funds Management in New Zealand.

“Mark and the new and existing members of his team have the complete backing of Westpac Group’s management, and will be able to further leverage the investment expertise resources within the Westpac Group and BT in Australia for the benefit of new and existing clients,” Ann Sherry said.

“BT is now positioned for a vigorous new drive for institutional and retail funds management business.” Slade Robertson joins BT from Macquarie where he was Head of Investment Management. Slade has worked in Investment and Portfolio Management for 12 years having worked both in New Zealand and Australia with Challenger International, BNP Paribas, JB Were Portfolio Management and Southpac.

Anthony Halls is currently completing his MBA and moves from his current part-time analytical support role at BT to this full-time position. Anthony has previously worked with BT in the position of Cash Portfolio Manager. He has substantial bank treasury and investment portfolio experience. Anthony has more recently worked with Slade as an equities analyst with Challenger International.

Slade and Anthony will be working with Paul Richardson the Portfolio Manager for NZ Equities. Both are critical additions to our NZ investment team that will enhance BT’s future development and ability to deliver the active portfolio management results investors are seeking.
