Steam Up Your Winter At Ming Court

Steam Up Your Winter With ‘Steam Boat’ At Ming Court

SKYCITY’s authentic Chinese restaurant, Ming Court is bringing back its Steam Boat promotion due to popular demand. It will be on offer from July 1 – July 31.

Steam Boat is a fun, entertaining and healthy way to enjoy Chinese food, especially during winter. It involves a selection of meats, seafood and vegetables being cooked in a bubbling soup at the table in a specially designed pot called a ‘Steam Boat’. Placed in the centre of the table, diners select items directly from the pot and eat with noodles and a variety of sauces. When the meat and vegetables are finished, cellophane noodles are added to the broth to make a fragrant and flavoursome soup.

SKYCITY Auckland General Manager Food and Beverage, Terry Hilsz says that Steam Boat dining is not widely available in Auckland restaurants and has a popular following.

“Chinese Steam Boat, a simple way of cooking meat and vegetables, owes its beginning to the Mongols of Northern China. Steam Boat dining is not only delicious but also very social due to the fun atmosphere provided by the cooking process. The Steam Boat menu option is available for groups of two to ten people, so is ideal for something different for social or business occasions. Remember though that bookings are essential for this limited promotional period,” said Mr Hilsz. Ming Court’s Steam Boat is on offer for dinner only and features two set menus with a tempting range of items such as whole Paddle crab, New Zealand Green Lip mussels, salmon, whole baby squid, prawns, sliced beef, Silky Black chicken, Shanghai noodles and seasonal Chinese vegetables. Set menus range in price from $25 - $35 per person and items on the à la Carte menu range from $4.00 - $48.00 per item. In addition to the two Steam Boat menus, Ming Court’s usual à la Carte dining options are available.
