UP FRONT - NZSA e-Newsletter - Vol 3 No.7

Up Front The NZSA e-Newsletter

July 2004
Vol 3 No#7

Dear Editor

As I mentioned in the last UP FRONT, it is planned that the next conference will be held in Auckland with the possibility of combining it with a trade exhibition that will also be open to the public for all or part of the time.

From feedback so far, there is interest in such an event and we have made tentative bookings at a venue that can cater for it. This would possibly run from the Thursday of the conference through to the Sunday afternoon. The intention would also be to showcase the Association and its members.

So as to get a feeling for how the security industry in Australia organise their trade exhibition, I am going to take the opportunity of visiting the ASIAL conference in Sydney next week. NZSA have also been invited to attend the ASIAL Board meeting, the day after their conference.

In the last UP FRONT, we omitted to thank one of the sponsors – Security Plastics. Our apologies! We would like to take this opportunity of expressing our appreciation for their involvement.

Regards

Barrie Cooper
Executive Director

The last UP FRONT featured an article on the Security Officer of the Year, Mr Derek Tones.

We know that there are many security officers like Derek who are worthy of recognition. In fact we have several nominations at the present that are going through the process of being awarded Certificates of Merit.

If you know anyone that you think is worthy of such recognition we would like to know - contact the NZSA office. All those officers who receive Certificates of Merit automatically go onto the list of candidates for the Security Officer of the Year Award to be presented at the next Conference.

Back to index Singaporeans Visiting New Zealand

On 10 - 11 August we will be hosting some 20 Singaporean security personnel from the Association of Certified Security Agencies. These are individuals who own their own security companies.

They are coming to New Zealand to get some overseas knowledge on the present processes within which security companies have to operate, some international threats, training and other areas of interest.

The proposal is to host them by listening to speakers for one day and then having members take them to various areas for site visits.

If you think that you are able to help please contact Barrie Cooper at the office.
