Optimation acquires Rex content management software

Wellington, August 26, 2004: Optimation has expanded its portfolio of e-business solutions with its acquisition of the assets of Rex Limited (www.rexsoftware.com), a New Zealand developer of tools for intranet/internet development, implementation and management. Optimation will continue to develop and extend the Rex software, and will provide support and development services to Rex customers.

Rex customers include Ravensdown Fertiliser, Porirua City Council, AEP Packaging, McDonalds, Roche Pharmaceuticals and The Warehouse. GDC and HDS also offer hosted and ASP versions of the software.

"Rex customers will benefit from Optimation's extensive skills in software engineering, security and infrastructure to continue to enhance their web-based environments," says Optimation managing director Neil Butler. "We will also be able to offer significant added value in other areas by helping customers harness technology to produce superior business outcomes."

Rex customers welcome Optimation relationship

Rex customers are very positive about Optimation taking on the Rex software.

"RexComposer stands out for its ease of use for our editors, functional capabilities for our users, and ease of integration and extendibility for future projects," says Danae Goddard, web projects co-ordinator for Ravensdown Fertiliser Co-operative.

"After our Intranet implementation, RexComposer has continued to perform and we look forward to developing both the product and our relationship with such an innovative company as Optimation."

Rex enhances content management, portal solutions portfolio

For existing Optimation customers, Rex provides an additional cost-effective, flexible content management option.

"Optimation already has significant enterprise content management, portal and document management expertise across environments including Microsoft Content Management Server, SharePoint Portal Server and Documentum," says Butler. "The addition of Rex to our solutions portfolio allows us to provide a cost-effective option for less complex content management requirements, with the scalability and flexibility to grow as the customer's business requires it."

About the Rex suite

Rex is unique in New Zealand in offering a simple to use, highly functional and sophisticated content management solution that is within the budget of New Zealand's small and medium sized businesses.

Rex is based on Microsoft technology, making it easy to integrate with existing Microsoft applications. A .NET version is currently in development and is due for release later this year.

The Rex suite currently includes:
* RexComposer for intranet content management * RexConductor for web publishing * RexInform for online forms management
