Applications now open for 2004 ANZ Business Scholarships

ANZ is determined to help people in business get the most out of their business with a second series of scholarships.

Up to 10 scholarships will be awarded nationwide to assist businesses to develop and grow through further training and education. Grants will be either $5000 or $2000. ANZ’s General Manager Business Banking Manager Craig Sims said the success of any business is dependent on the knowledge and skills of its people.

“Their enthusiasm and will to find new and improved ways of doing things is essential to remain a competitive business today.”

Applicants must also demonstrate a wider interest in community activities.

This is the second year the scholarships have been awarded. Some of last year’s winners used the grants for such things as training on software applications, management and marketing skills and a four-year diploma in mechanical engineering.

Craig Sims said past successful applicants were all able to demonstrate that the scholarship would have a positive impact on the future of their business.

“Looking at their track records, we are confident they all have the ability to apply the training they undertook to promote further growth and development of their businesses.”

Mr Sims says the ANZ has a long history of working alongside small and medium sized enterprises.

“We are committed to doing everything we can to help our clients and their businesses thrive. These scholarships are another example of how ANZ is finding valuable tools to assist enterprising New Zealanders.”

“Many will be familiar with the television advertisements featuring the Haddads of Otorohanga, United Fisheries of Christchurch and Passage Rock Vineyard of Waiheke, where ANZ worked alongside these businesses to help them achieve their goals.”

“We know there are many more businesses who could benefit from working in similar close partnership with their bank,” Mr Sims said.

The scholarships are open to all ANZ Business customers.
