Gallagher Group Wins Electronic Award

The Gallagher Group, renowned for its animal management and security systems, has been formally recognised for its electronic capabilities winning a coveted electronics award.

Acknowledging the Westpac Hi-Tech Awards Avnet Electronic Company of the Year Award, Gallagher Group CEO Bill Gallagher says the range of products designed and manufactured within the company impressed the judges.

"The electronic capabilities within the Gallagher Group are used to create and manufacture a wide range of products. We not only produce our own animal management, security systems and fuel pump requirements, but also a number of products we are contracted to manufacture – such as drum dispenser pumps, towel and toilet roll dispensers to name a few," Gallagher says.

"In recent years our PEC plant in Marton has installed an automated electronic assembly facility, in addition to that located in Hamilton. This expansion caters for the needs of PEC Fuel Pumps and offers full contract manufacturing services. A wide range of high-tech products for various clients are manufactured at the plant, including GPS tracking devices, engine management systems, electronic survey equipment and intelligent camera-activated robotics. Linked with our Hamilton-based plastics tooling and injection moulding factory, we are able to offer clients full product manufacturing services."

Hi-Tech Award judges say awarding the electronic accolade to Gallagher was an opportunity to celebrate an already well-known company. "As a totally New Zealand-owned firm, which has developed from an agricultural base to producing security systems marketed and distributed around the globe, Gallagher is a superb example of diversification leading to good export growth.

"The company has also grown through acquisition, including expansion into building access control systems and fuel pumps."

The Hi-Tech Awards are held annually to recognise ideas and organisations that contribute to the economy and the creative wealth of our country.

Gallagher Animal Management Systems Marketing Manager Mark Harris attended the award ceremony and accepted the award on Gallaghers' behalf.

Harris says by entering various awards, Gallagher can benchmark themselves against other manufacturing companies.
