Westpac Institutional Bank ends strong year

Westpac Institutional Bank ends strong year with two more major industry awards

Westpac Institutional Bank (WIB) has ended a strong year taking the awards for Australia and New Zealand Bond House and Australia and New Zealand Loan House in the coveted IFR Asia Awards announced in Hong Kong on 20 December.

WIB is the only Australasian Bank to be represented in these awards.

The IFR Awards recognise excellence in lending to corporates and institutions and raising capital on their behalf through bond issues.

Says David McLean, Head of WIB NZ, “We are really pleased to be recognised by the IFR Asia Awards. WIB has had a very focused year and we will be working hard to maintain this momentum and performance throughout 2005.”

This year WIB has won the INFINZ Bank of the Year for the second year running and performed strongly in the Peter Lee Associates (formerly Greenwich) annual Large Corporate and Institutional Banking Survey - ranking No.1 for the third year running on relationship quality and 1st equal on overall customer satisfaction as well as retaining the No 1 Transactional Bank position. IFR (International Financial Review) Asia is a weekly journal covering developments in the Asia region’s capital markets and is the “authoritative source of capital markets intelligence in Asia” and “the industry standard for recognising excellence in investment banking”. The IFR Asia Awards are selected by IFR Asia’s capital markets journalists. Starting in October, the journalists conduct in-depth interviews and analysis with hundreds of market participants. These meetings provide an opportunity for capital market professionals to support their nomination for individual awards and give their views on the performance of their peers. The final decision is then made by the senior IFR Asia’s editorial team.
